It pays a rising dividend, it sits at the centre of the local equity market, and it has spent the last two years returning more cash to shareholders. For the 2026 financial year it declared a total ordinary dividend of 18.5 cents per share, a yield of about 4.4% at a share price of S$4.19 (as of 21 October 2026).

That headline yield hides an important detail: part of it is a temporary top-up, not a permanent payout. This guide covers what Singtel actually pays, how the dividend has grown, why some of the yield is time-limited, and how to invest in the stock from Singapore. It is written for education, not as financial advice.

Singtel’s Dividend Yield in 2026

At S$4.19 per share (as of 21 October 2026), Singtel’s total ordinary dividend of 18.5 cents gives a trailing yield of roughly 4.4%. That is competitive with the big SGX banks and well above the roughly 2% to 3% the broad Straits Times Index pays.

Here is the catch. The 18.5 cents is made of two parts:

A core dividend of 13.4 cents, tied to profit. This is the repeatable part.

A Value Realisation Dividend (VRD) of 5.1 cents, a bonus funded by selling and recycling assets.

Strip out the VRD and the core yield is closer to 3.2%. Both numbers are real, but only one is built to last. When you weigh Singtel against other income-paying SGX blue chips, it helps to look at the core yield, because that is what the business funds from earnings year after year.

Singtel Dividend History and Payout Dates

Singtel’s ordinary dividend has climbed steadily since 2022, helped by the VRD that began in FY2024.

Financial year (ended 31 Mar)

Core dividend

Value Realisation Dividend

Total ordinary

Year on year

FY2022

9.3 cents

n/a

9.3 cents

n/a

FY2023

9.9 cents

n/a

9.9 cents

+6%

FY2024

11.2 cents

3.8 cents

15.0 cents

+52%

FY2025

12.3 cents

4.7 cents

17.0 cents

+13%

FY2026

13.4 cents

5.1 cents

18.5 cents

+9%

Figures are Singtel’s declared dividends per financial year. FY2023 also included a separate special dividend of about 5.0 cents from the partial sale of its stake in Bharti Airtel, which sits outside the ordinary dividend shown above. The VRD began in FY2024. Third-party dividend trackers sometimes show different yearly totals because VRD tranches are paid across two periods.

Singtel pays twice a year: an interim dividend after its half-year results in November, and a final dividend after its full-year results in May. For FY2026:

Interim: 8.2 cents per share (6.4 core plus 1.8 VRD), declared with the half-year results in November 2025.

Final: 10.3 cents per share (7.0 core plus 3.3 VRD), which went ex-dividend on 31 July 2026 and was paid on 19 August 2026.

How Singtel’s Dividend Policy Works (and What the VRD Is)

Singtel runs two dividend streams, and understanding the split is the key to reading the yield honestly.

The core dividend is set at 70% to 90% of underlying net profit. For FY2026 it paid out at 80%, giving the 13.4-cent core dividend. As long as profit holds or grows, this part should continue.

The Value Realisation Dividend is different. Singtel introduced it in FY2024 to hand back excess cash raised from recycling capital: selling data-centre and regional stakes, trimming holdings, and monetising other assets. It has guided the VRD to a range of 3 to 6 cents per share a year, funded from roughly S$6 billion of identified capital-recycling proceeds. The important point for income investors is that the VRD depends on Singtel having assets to sell. It is a deliberate, finite programme, not a payout tied to profit, so it should not be treated as a permanent part of the yield.

Is Singtel a Good Dividend or Income Stock?

It depends on what you want from it. As a core holding, Singtel offers a dependable, profit-backed dividend near 3.2%, a few more years of bonus payouts on top, and exposure to a recovering telecoms group. As a pure yield play, the honest read is that the sustainable core yield is solid but not spectacular, and the headline 4.4% will likely step down once the VRD programme winds up.

Here is how the yield compares across common SGX income options (indicative, as of 21 October 2026):

Stock / asset

SGX ticker

Sector

Indicative yield

Singtel (headline, incl. If you want to see how a lower-yielding compounder sits against a higher-yielding telco, how ST Engineering’s payouts compare is a useful contrast.

Singtel Beyond the Dividend: Optus, Regional Associates and the AI Pivot

The dividend is only half the story the market is watching. Singtel reported net profit of S5.61billionforFY2026,upabout40%,thoughthatfigurewasliftedbyaone-offexceptionalgainofS2.84 billion. Underlying net profit, which strips out one-offs, rose 12% to S2.77billiononrevenueofS14.26 billion. The underlying number is the one that funds the core dividend.

Three things are reshaping the group. Its Australian arm, Optus, is working through a turnaround. Its regional associates, including Bharti Airtel in India, Telkomsel in Indonesia, AIS in Thailand and Globe in the Philippines, are expected to send around S$1.1 billion in dividends up to the parent in the coming year. And Singtel is leaning into data centres and AI infrastructure through its Nxera unit, which is part of the same capital-recycling story that funds the VRD. Management has guided to low-to-mid single-digit growth in near-term operating profit, flagging uncertainty from the Middle East among the risks.

How to Invest in Singtel From Singapore

Singtel trades on the SGX under the ticker Z74, in board lots of 100 shares. At around S4.19,onelotcostsroughlyS419 before fees. You can buy it through any broker with SGX access, holding the shares in your CDP account or with a custodian broker. If you are new to this, our guide to getting set up to place your first trade walks through the account options.

If your goal is income rather than a single name, concentration is worth thinking about. Relying on one company for passive income ties your payout to that company’s fortunes. Some investors prefer to spread income across many holdings, for example through a hands-off basket of Singapore REITs or a diversified income portfolio that blends bonds and dividend assets. You can also trade SGX stocks with Syfe directly if you would rather pick names like Singtel yourself.

Risks of Relying on Singtel for Passive Income

The VRD is temporary. Once the capital-recycling programme runs its course, the headline yield is likely to fall back toward the core level.

Dividends are not guaranteed. They depend on profit, cash flow and board decisions, and can be reduced.

Overseas and currency exposure. A large share of earnings comes from Optus and the regional associates, so the Australian dollar, the Indian rupee and regional market conditions all feed into results.

Concentration risk. One stock, one sector.
