The passive investing momentum has accelerated in the last few years: market share of passively managed US equity funds has now overtaken active funds, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/la-fi-investing-quarterly-index-funds-20170409-story.html\">24% in 2010<\/a> and 12% in 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take for example, investing into the world\u2019s best known index \u2013 S&amp;P 500. One can easily invest into it through ETFs such as VOO, IVV and CSPX or index funds such as Amundi Prime USA Fund which are managed by the world\u2019s leading asset managers. The cost of investing into these is just 0.03%-0.07% a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, <em>some<\/em> active funds, can cost over 50 times as much \u2013 1.60%-2%. There are also hidden fees when investing into active funds.
